Stories From My Musical World

Repeating Events

Repeating Events is connected to The Painting, a body of music shaped by Edvard Munch's The Sick Child and the way repeated images hold memory.

Listen to the piece

The beginning

The Painting notes begin with a visual source: Edvard Munch returning to The Sick Child again and again in different versions.

That act of returning became musical: repeated ideas, altered colour, changed texture and memory seen from another angle.

The memory

The story so far

Repeating Events belongs to a set of pieces that listen to a painting rather than simply describe it.

The music follows the emotional trace of an image: the way grief can repeat, blur, change shape and still remain recognisable years later.

Some pieces feel close and detailed, while others are more faded, as if the memory has softened at the edges.

A quiet reflection

This story is still being gathered. More memories, images and notes can be added here as the piece finds its shape.
