About

Welcome Behind the Music

I'd love to share a little about the journey that has shaped my musical world.

Alanna Crouch at the piano.

My Musical World

Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started by playing melodies by ear, then began making my own small pieces, improvising, recording and shaping ideas.

Most of my music begins with an image, a painting, a story or a feeling I cannot quite put into words. I like imagining what the background music would be if a picture came alive like a scene in a film.

The piano is where those worlds become real. I use it to explore and express myself in ways I can't with only words.

Where Ideas Begin

A Few Things That Inspire Me

Many of my pieces begin long before I sit at the piano. Sometimes it is a quiet woodland path, changing light, an old painting, a beautiful building or simply a moment that stays with me. These are some of the places, objects and ideas that continue to inspire my music.

Story, Illustration & Music

Princess Emma

Princess Emma began during lockdown, when my sister Keira and I had time to build a story together. She wrote and illustrated it, and I composed the score.

We built the world together, letting the images and music shape each other as the story grew.
