Notebook Excerpt
The Painting was inspired by Edvard Munch's repeated versions of The Sick Child, created over many years as he returned to the memory of his sister Sophie. I was drawn to the idea that memories are never revisited in quite the same way, so I used recurring patterns and melodies throughout the music. Each piece explores a different detail from the paintings, reflecting how the same memory can reveal something new each time we return to it.
